There were some heroes out there today. Keith Stewart for starters. Brilliantly saving a penalty when it was 1 zip to us. Andy Johnston for his superb diving header into the far corner, one minute from time to win us the game for a sublime Bunmi cross. There was Bala and Jonesy who really did not put a foot wrong at the back and won absolutely everything. There was Steve Whitson, who slotted the first despite suffering from a hangover from the depths of hell, after a night out with Beelzebub himself. There was Terry, who is going to be sorely missed by the boys with his imminent move to HK, coming on and causing mayhem amongst the Mincis defence etc etc etc I could go on. I felt proud to be a member of the Reds today. After last weeks debarcle we struck back superbly. 2-1. Cum on!!!!!
Right, lets get down to the nitty gritty straight away with 'penis of the week'. There were a few candidates including a few nominations for myself. Then there was the ref. He was a baboon, a Neanderthal, a hammerhead. To quote Blackadder, 'there are amoeba on Saturn that could have reffed the game better than he did.' However, I am going to give the much coveted 'penis of the week' to the orangutan who filled in for the original linesman on the right side of the pitch.

Good win and a good match report. To be fair, we created plenty of chances to win it and threw the kitchen sink at them after they equalised. Despite the late winner, we were good for the win. I was pleased with the commitment and desire which ultimately saw us prevail.
My MOM goes to Keith for the penalty save which ultimately kept us in the game. POW must go to our resident scribe for a couple of counts: 1) for having a go at the ref for not giving a free kick whilst he was still dribbling the ball and continuing to receive kicks from more than one player. You either have to go down or keep your mouth shut (as the actress said to the vicar). 2) for a Greg Louganis impersonation after losing possession down at the corner flag near the end of the first half. And 3) for calling the linesman and orangutan! That said, he'd also be up there for my MOM having a great game at right back (surely his best position!!!)
We have no game next weekend. I'm going to organise some tickets for the Masters tournament on Sunday which we can follow with our first Big Night Out of the season thus far. I might even have a drink myself.
The weekend after, we take on Vikings who are currently level with points with us at the top of the table. The winner of that game will be top of the table for Christmas. Let's make sure it's us.
